The Telangana Police Academy (erstwhile APPA) was established in 1986 at CPL, Amberpet and was later shifted to the present campus in 1993. The academy is spread over an area of approximately 148 acres and has grown into one of the premier police training institutions in India.

In 2013 the academy was renamed as Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy (RBVRR) Police Academy. After the formation of Telangana State in 2014, the institution became the RBVRR Telangana Police Academy.

The academy provides training to Police Officers of and above the rank of Sub-Inspectors including Gazetted Officers (DySPs), Forensic Scientists, Public Prosecutors, and officers from departments such as Customs & Excise, Motor Vehicles, and Forest departments.

Learning Management System (LMS)

The Telangana Police Academy Learning Management System (LMS) is a digital training platform designed to modernize police education and professional training. The LMS enables officers and trainees to access course materials, digital modules, training resources and assessments from anywhere.

The platform supports structured training programs, course tracking, digital certification and centralized training administration across Telangana Police training units.

Knowledge Management System (KMS)

The Knowledge Management System (KMS) is an AI-powered knowledge platform developed to help police officers access legal provisions, police manuals, procedural guidelines and operational knowledge efficiently.

The system allows officers to retrieve relevant legal references and procedural instructions quickly, improving decision-making during investigations and operational duties.
